Flood…is that water?

Here are some recent pictures of the flooded U-turn right beside my house. The water has turned black and rancid, and smells like a filthy toilet. Its not fun wading through part of it to get up to the road, lemme tell ya!

I have decided to run away to Koh Samet for the next few days, since my school does not re-open until Tuesday next week. Hopefully, when I return the jank water will have subsided.

Goodbye horrible stinky flood and hello beautiful turqouise island water! Beach, here I come!

My school has been closed since Friday because of the floods happening all over Thailand. It’s been a crazy experience, but as fun as it’s been wading all over town, I am missing my little Asian nuggets.

Roads become Rivers

After spending a few days in central Bangkok, I was shocked to come back home and find the road leading to my house completely under water. My house is surprisingly on high enough ground to avoid the major flooding going on in Thailand right now, but many residential areas have not been so lucky. Many people are now resorting to travel by small boat through the many U-turns such as this one to reach their homes.

Ethos is a quaint little gem of a restaurant just a short hop skip and jump away from Khaosan Rd in Bangkok. My friend Tarryn and I spent a few lovely hours here today after a very lively and fun-filled Saturday night to relax and eat some delicious food that looked and tasted like it was made for the Gods.

There was a bit of a birthday party for the twins after nap time today. They needed a bit of help blowing out their candles, but as you can see, no help was needed in finishing off their birthday cake!

I like Ice, just Not in my Beer

You won’t often see a Thai person sipping on a beer without ice in it. Yes, ICE. I personally don’t care for it much, but the whole drinking beer with a straw thing here isn’t so bad so you can’t say I don’t embrace the culture!

A Good Day

My friend Tarryn and I after a bit of a crazy fun weekend. Here we are relaxing on one of the Chaopraya river boats on our way back home.

*Taking the boat is a very inexpensive way to get around Bangkok. It has great views of the city, and is especially pretty at around 6pm when the sun is setting.

This picture is a memory from a Thai cooking class I signed up for in Chiang Mai last December.

Part of the days lesson: How to catch your frying pan on fire and have the flames leap up almost to the ceiling.

It was a great day. Everybody’s food tasted great, and nobody lost their eyebrows!
